Alternate reasons for non- disclosure?

Hey! I read this subreddit everyday and most people think that reason for non disclosure is that because the government is trying to reverse engineer the crafts or private corps trying to keep the tech hidden. But what if the reason they are not disclosing is because they are not sure what actually the phenomenon is and they might be afraid that if the disclose that they don’t have a clue how to actually catch and reverse engineer the crafts, some other countries might also start trying hard to be the first to make sense of the phenomenon. And if some other country actually succeeds in doing it first then it will erase last two centuries of dominance USA has over the world. And it could be any country which doesn’t have same objectives as western countries and could lead to much more chaos. Even if some people don’t like how western countries lead the world I still think its better than any other country would be capable of. What if everytime some whistleblower comes out and say that USA has alien aircraft and trying to reverse engineer them is actually told by the government to do so because it will make USA look more capable than the rest of the world which is also trying to make sense of it and can’t. If the USA has so many crafts in their possession from decades, why is all the technological advances even in the military still follow after someone make a scientific breakthrough through the same process which has scientists followed from last two centuries. All the technological advances in military are more of a result of hard work of engineers. What if the intelligence community is actually scared of the phenomenon because they can’t do anything about it and they don’t want to admit it because they know there is something more powerful than their military and if they disclose that info, all of its enemies will only focus on one thing and that is try to make sense of the phenomenon before USA does. It will make perfect sense for the USA to use whistleblowers to through other countries off to a wrong path and while still trying to make sense of the phenomenon which might be completely opposite to actually trying to catch the aircarft and reverse engineer them. They know that other militaries must have also come across the phenomenon and it make perfect sense for the USA to use whistleblowers to gaslight people into thinking phenomenon is something which it might have ruled out already. I think until USA can actually figure out what its actually is they are gonna keep releasing false info through various means. USA has actually killed people off the books for far less but they don’t do anything about the UFO whistleblowers. And if the actually had the aaircarfts that might be the biggest state secret ever. I dont know but i think Intelligence community is actually driving the conversion about phenomenon way more than we think and they are steering it towards what actaully benefits them. The whistleblowers might be deliberately fed wrong information or they might actually be working with the intelligence agencies. I have a strong feeling that government is actually holding all the strings and they are releasing information through various sources which they want to get out in the world. It might be the biggest disinformation campaign in history. Whatever it might be but I am very sure that they are not taking a backseat in this matter and they are the ones holding all cards and actually driving the discussion through a very well thought out plan.
