Considering a history of the DoD giving input to Media (if true), such high strangeness regarding Antarctica (Adm. Bird), and Mr Coulthart suggesting a laudable structure built over a unmovable UFO (how could you move a ufo from under ice and then over the ocean) I suggest that Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station should be considered a top contender for being the mysterious location.
What first made me think of this was, yes… the xfiles. I recently rewatched the first few episodes and was surprised to find the lore being established was eerily similar to today’s including aliens being here for a long time and even personnel being hurt by exposure to the technology. By the end of xfiles lore of course is a ufo under this very station. It’s ‘dome’ seems really more ‘structure’ than building.
There is additional high strangeness regarding the poles of course in ufo lore. This base is at The South Pole. If UFOs appear here often a crash here seems probable, no?
Lastly research stations are certainly laudable.
For me the most powerful ideas are the logistics of removing a craft from the ice in an area surveyed by Byrd, moving it over difficult terrain, and then over the ocean. PLUS damn if those xfiles episodes from years past don’t seem years ahead of their time.
