Im standing outside, leaning against my car. Using the natural curve of the door to try and support my neck as I stare up at the stars. I don’t have my glasses on, and it causes them to be bright little specks. I watch the glowing lights of a plane pass by, hearing the sound travel moments after it. I watch as it – what I think is a satellite or very high up plane – moves slowly across the sky. It’s a pin prick of light. I watch it until it’s almost just past my roof.
And then my attention is pulled immediately upwards. There is a bright light, like a spotlight or search light. And I look up and it’s gone but there’s a tiny spec moving across the sky. Faster than the one I had been originally watching, but still like – a normal speed? Steady, consistent.
I don’t believe what I saw was a glimmer of the sun catching on a satellite. I’ve seen that before. This light felt artificial, in my mind like a helicopter searching. It was that bright, that pinpoint. But it was too far away to be that bright. I feel like I know that. I don’t know how though.
I’ve seen shooting stars, and star link, I’ve seen planes and helicopters, I’ve seen a meteor hit the atmosphere causing a lighting crack of green energy and light to split across a night sky like magic.
I’m not sure what I saw last night. I seem to have two conflicting thoughts, one – the dot was so small, this says it had to be VERY far away. Two – the light was SO bright. It had to be very close. At first, I thought it was a plane or something, but it couldn’t have been. There wasn’t any sound attached. That also means it was fucking far away. And the light was so bright. And DIRECTLY above me. It drew my attention, and I got a brief flash of it before I blinked, and the light was gone.
If anyone has any idea on what could have happened, I’d love to know. It was extremely interesting and unusual. I also want to be clear that I’m not saying that this is a mystical or unsolvable experience. However, google has provided less than stellar results.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and theories on what it could have been.
(Reddit keeps glitching at me, but this happened between 10 and 10:30 yesterday, near the Missouri/Arkansas Boarder)
