Synopsis:

For over two decades a top secret film studio nestled deep in the Hollywood Hills captured some of the most amazing images ever committed to celluloid, only to have their remarkable films almost immediately locked away after being viewed by a handful of government officials. From nuclear weapons tests to classified projects, these films were made possible only by the remarkable innovation of some of the world’s most talented filmmakers. As the Cold War subsided and the true story of these 6,500 films began to surface, the truth behind these stunning films and the people who shot them finally began to come to light. This is the story of one of the most dangerous times in human history, and the remarkable dedication of the filmmakers who captured it all on film.

The studio contained staff from many prominent studios alongside its military staff. Civilian personnel from Warner Brothers, Metro-Goldwyn Mayer and RKO Pictures worked at the studio in functions such as producers, cameramen and directors.[2] W. Donn Hayes (1893–1973), coiner of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) title and past president of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, worked at Lookout Mountain as his last career assignment; he had been in the film and television industries since 1916.[6]
