Check out the case of a _non_-abduction from the story-teller and investigator, Beyond Creepy –

A presence enters the house. Bony fingers push open the door as a human watches, all but paralyzed. It is a Grey alien in the home, sparking a fear so powerful that the man can barely keep his wits. And then, he resists. He draws back, shouts “No!” and grabs a stick to defend himself. Cautiously, the Intruder backs out.
What can be learned from reading hundreds of encounters and abduction accounts is quite a lesson: The putative aliens have imperfect control over humans. With random first-timers, they don’t know how well a face-to-face encounter will go, and are prepared to desist if the target resists. They might, if so inclined, employ more aggressive options; but very often the human can terminate an encounter on their own terms.
