They want to give you a win. They are concerned that if you are denied now, you will organize into a fierce, compelling and unstoppable activist group with uncontrolled unpredictable future branching directions. They want to channel you towards government channels for this topic. They intend to give you a win. Relax. It’s all part of the narrative: build you up, when you’re afraid and emotion is intense, you get engaged. When it comes off, you feel like you achieved it. So next, time, you’re going to trust that gov process works for this, and that’s where you’ll go. That’s where you’ll channel your energies. That’s what they want. Because at least in that way it’s controllable.
I’m not saying against that: I think that path has some wins, too. What they are remains to be seen, of course. I think you need to keep your options open.
