For All Mankind – somewhat relevant?

I’ve been watching For All Mankind, an Apple TV show. It’s an alternate history series about what things might have been like if Russia had landed on the Moon first. Very well done show if you’re into the 70s and 80s Apollo and Shuttle period.

Anyway, I’m into Season 3 and the Moon is colonized, we have nuclear engines on our shuttle, and we’re mining Helium-3. There are wide spread revolts against the government due to oil and gas companies and jobs dwindling in profits and relevancy. NASA is profitable and funding almost weekly trips to the Moon. Electric cars are a thing in the 80s. It’s interesting, BUT…

I’m a big believer that there are sources out there with technologies that are being held in shadow. Some of it human-designed… and others probably not. Either way, it makes me both anxious and sad that the world we COULD have is not here. Energy creation tech that could feed the world. Energy that could free us from coal and gas. Tech that could change everything from safety to health to new job creation.

I want Disclosure, but this show reminds me that every new technology comes with change and problems. I worry about protests and those who don’t understand what Disclosure could mean for the long haul, not the short term. I’m hoping smarter people than me are doing what needs to be done to prepare our economies if Disclosure is to be a real thing.
