So firstly i mean GOOD ai text to video is here. not the old models that take an image and give the background a little parallax. But i mean stuff that looks like what openAI showed as results from their SORA demo (most were nearly indiscernible from real life and that was only their earliest early version they showed to the public).

I feel this is going to cause noticeable effects in our community. Even if it isnt used to death to troll or mislead, it also means even on the most real of real looking videos posted after today are all vulnerable to 100s of people replying “FAKE AI GENERATED” to every single video which is depressing.

I’m sure tools will be made to detect AI artefacts, but if you compressed the video yourself after the AI made it and trimmed it short, it wouldnt be difficult to confuse it. once it has been reencoded and quality removed from that process, it loses a lot of nuanced details that AI would use to discern its origin.

Also of note is the fact you can upload images and get it to make the videos from them too so a good usecase for this would be for recreating sightings for educational/entertainment purposes. you could even upload a drawing and have it use it for reference. Crazy time

So my dear friends. Take all with a pinch of salt, but also be courteous to people. I just feel like i can already sense the incoming “THIS WAS MADE IN AI” comments, as much as i sense the incoming storm of annoying Hoaxes.

also for an example i literally just typed in “the nazca mummies walking” and already got this from the free version with a lazy prompt (i realise there are discontinuity glitches in it but improving the model now will be far easier than achieving what they have already achieved. a couple versions down the line this will be staggering

Also: I’m a professional VFX artist by trade (15+ years exp in big budget projects). If anyone ever wants a video they’re unsure of critiquing, i have a good eye for VFX and i’m not a blanket sceptic like corridor crew 🙂
