Didn’t Schumer’s original UAPDA already set up the framework that it was up to the president ultimately what got declassified and what didn’t? This seems like Biden just reiterating the same thing.
Nowhere does that imply that Biden will just hide the whole phenomenon from Congress. Congress controls all the funding anyway. And that would just publicly turn him into the main villain of this whole cover-up, I don’t think that’s in his best interest.
To me the only thing this means is the executive branch still wants the authority to block SOME of the data form being declassified that may be highly sensitive. For example UAP footage recorded with some highly classified surveillance system that they don’t want Russia and China to know about.
Doesn’t them reasserting this authority in a disclosure process imply that they expect some sort of a disclosure process to happen in the near future? Otherwise why even announce this clarification at all?
