Invasion. Why?

Why do people put stock in invasion theories/leaks?

It seems like something only our unevolved monkey brains can conjure up in order to explain something.

Here’s how I like to look at it. How can any race so powerful and so much more advanced than we are have any reason to invade or destroy us? Any argument I can think of like resources, “we’re a threat”, “they want our souls as batteries” seem like extremely bad sci-fi and all these arguments can easily be countered by saying that if they are advanced enough to travel here they are advanced enough to generate boundless energy and resources and could erase our entire existence with the snap of their sticky alien finger.

Seems all like a bunch of fear mongering to me. They probably consider us no more interesting than we consider ants interesting. They’re showing themselves in their little saucers because they can’t be f’d what we think.

In fact, I’d wager that any kind of motivations they have is so alien and advanced that we aren’t able to comprehend it and would seem like 7D chess to us
