Is the redneck abductee stereotype intentional to discredit claims and reports?

I’ve always wondered if the reason sightings and abductions have been focused on uneducated red necks was actually a strategic one to discredit any claims that would flow from them? Is it possible NHI have that intimate awareness of how certain populations are perceived? Or do we just have ourselves a bunch bored/drunk hillbillies looking to share some stories either by entertainment or mental illness?
