“I’ve Been Told” that in “two weeks”…

The “I’ve been told” and “two more weeks” memes are tiresome.

On the one hand, we want people like Ross to put out or shut up.

But if they report nothing, the radio silence will be vexing. I think we would get equally frustrated, or close to it, if they said nothing at all for weeks.

So, we are caught between the annoying “I’ve been told” claims without evidence and radio silence.

If they have heard something, and don’t have evidence, should they keep silent? I’m not sure what evidence they could even produce. Certainly not material and you can’t out your sources.

I prefer the “I’ve been told claims” rather than radio silence. However, exaggerated claims should be kept under the hat, like a giant secret UFO. And, it’s time for people like Ross to address the community about our frustration. They are profiting from our attention, yet treat us like consumers or even children…look at Nolan’s “be good” tweet.

A level of respect and moderation is needed.

Having said that, I lean towards hearing something rather than nothing because we can’t let the Kirkpatricks take all the air time. But some humility and gratitude for our constant attention is in order. Acting like gatekeepers and heralds of secret knowledge is off putting. I understand that profit motives are mixed into all this (I’d make money off of it too), but they should be more respectful of our time and attention.

This only annoys me slightly because I keep my emotional investment in the situation at a minimum, and I’m extremely patient. Giving up now doesn’t make sense. So, I’ll listen to them, think it through, and reserve judgment, but I would rather have information than nothing at all…even for the momentum.
