My experience with a rectangluar UFO and a power outage.

(Posted as a comment in this r/highstrangeness thread but wanted to make it a post for visibility/discussion)

I saw what might be the same thing or a similar thing one night several years ago (2016 or 2017 I think).

The power went out in my town around 3 AM, and I was still awake, so I decided to go out for walk uptown (small town, mild fall night around Canadian Thanksgiving, I think). Was a really cool vibe, seeing downtown so dark and dead. Almost felt like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie or show.

On my way home, I looked up and saw something come over the tree line gliding slowly through the sky. It looked like this video, but less round and more rectangular, with what looked like straight edges and flat-ish sides. This thing flew slowly across the sky, sort of rotating/flipping end over end. It was an orange color, consistently lit across its body/frame. I actually saw a guy out on a bike ride (weird timing, and the first guy I had seen on my ~20-25 min walk (smaller town). I waved him down, he took off his headphones and I asked him if he saw what I was seeing. He looked up, said ‘Holy shit” or something like that. I said “what the hell is that?” And he responded “must be a UFO!” We both just kinda stared awe struck as it went across the sky.

The craziest thing happened next. The second this flipping / rotating orange rectangle thing flew over the horizon, the power came back on. Seriously.

Me and this dude just looked at eachother and I think either I said or we both just said what the fuck. And I was just like I’m glad someone else saw this with me and he agreed and laughed and said have something like “that was crazy” and then he basically said “well I’m gonna finish my bike ride”, and biked off. I walked home and barely slept because I just saw what in my mind had to be some kind of UFO. It was bizarre.

Oh and we live 15 min from a nuclear power plant. Makes me wonder.
