Template to Congress:
Dear [Congressperson’s Name],
The integrity of our elections is fundamental to our democracy. However, there is growing concern that foreign influence operations, particularly through intelligence-sharing alliances such as the Five Eyes (FVEY), are being used to bypass domestic restrictions on intelligence gathering and exert undue influence over our political processes.
There is clear evidence that foreign intelligence agencies, including those from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, have been involved in data collection and information operations that impact American elections. These nations, working in coordination with U.S. intelligence agencies, have been known to share surveillance data and influence narratives in ways that circumvent legal oversight. This presents a serious national security concern, as it allows foreign entities to shape public discourse and interfere in domestic politics without accountability.
Congress must take immediate action to investigate the extent to which the Five Eyes alliance has played a role in election interference. Transparency is critical—there must be safeguards to ensure that no foreign intelligence service is permitted to manipulate American political outcomes. It is imperative that our electoral process remains free from outside interference, regardless of the source.
