Template to Congress:

Dear [Congressperson’s Name],

Foreign interference in American politics is unacceptable, yet intelligence-sharing agreements with Australia have enabled covert influence over our democratic processes. The Australian intelligence community has been involved in operations that gather information on American political figures, which is then used to shape narratives and policies in ways that benefit Australian interests rather than those of the American people.

Through the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance, Australia is able to conduct surveillance and collect data that U.S. agencies are legally prohibited from gathering. This data is then funneled back into our system, circumventing the legal restrictions designed to protect American citizens from unauthorized surveillance and political manipulation.

Congress must demand full transparency regarding the role of Australian intelligence agencies in U.S. elections and policymaking. Intelligence-sharing agreements should not serve as a backdoor for foreign influence in our democracy.
