The analysis done on the MH370 videos is worth the effort even if it’s fake

I see a growing sentiment after the latest debunk that this community should somehow feel “embarrassed” for giving credence to these videos.

I understand that there are more than a few “schizo-posters” and that is indeed embarrassing yes, but they are not representative of the whole community whatsoever.

I also understand where those “embarrassed” people are coming from, as I was always on the side of these being fake , BUT

The matching data sets attached to these videos were absolutely at the very least intriguing and worth looking into. It wasn’t just the video themselves that made them compelling.

At the end of the day, as a community we have learned more about: -software video editing tools -physics -satellite systems -VFX tricks and how to accomplish them -what those tricks look like and how you can identify them -what optics may or may not be capable of capturing -etc etc etc, I’ve barely scratched the surface here.

My point being, we as a community have refined our toolsets. We have refined what we use to analyze and how we think about videos. We have learned from various experts from all sides.

“As iron shapes iron, so one man sharpens another”

Be kind to one another.

There are always going to be “noobs” coming in as the community continues to grow. Just focus on the good work that is done here and don’t hyper-fixate on what the influx of new or trolling posters come in here to say.
