This sub spends a LOT of time on videos, pictures, stories, whistleblowers, but how much do we really know about how we got here? I’m not going to link one of those “this is all disinfo campaign” debunk “documentaries” that pretends places like this are devoid of skepticism or pretends the notable disinfo figures are *all* the figures.

Nonetheless, US intelligence was in it’s early days already beginning to form the precursor structures for the world wars as early as the 1890s, and the Northern Italy UFO accusation lines up with the OSS activity during WWII, Roswell with the founding of the CIA.

Whatever the UFO phenomenon is, massive government coverup or massive government psyop, understanding the organizations in which it would’ve happened and their histories, especially of the individuals involved at a high level, is a place we could stand to spend more time.

This is a great series that takes you through the history of the OSS and CIA through the lens of major corrupt operations up through a fair bit of the cold war.

If you’re looking for good reads, I’d highly recommend looking up US intelligence leadership, Air Force leadership from it’s earliest days until the 1980s when declassified documents start drying up. The wiki pages for individuals are often telling, but you can also pop the names into the JFK files archive, or The Black Vault and find some fascinating interactions between very powerful people.

Acid Dreams by Martin A. Lee is a pretty solid read as well. What are some of your favorite sources for studying the context in which the UFO story has happened?
