It appears that NATO has intelligence that suggests the possibility of a major global conflict in the near future (https://www.politico.eu/article/nato-needs-warfighting-transformation-says-military-chief/). Given that this is now publicly communicated, I’m sure it has been discussed in military circles behind closed doors for some time. What if the infamous “time constraint” is about the realistic possibility of having to use reverse engineered craft to fight WW3? I would also certainly call this idea somber. A disclosure of such reverse engineered technology would also serve as a deterrent against escalation, given the US could convince Russia and China that it was more successful at it.
