Uintah Valley Vacation?

I have a week of PTO idk what to do with this year, moneys a lil tight so not tryna go abroad or to a big city but enough leftover for a flight and cheap motels and food. Yea I should probably just go to a florida beach and chill, but I wanna go to the Uintah basin. I’m not even sure if I am mentally prepared or even want to see *something* but I’ve wanted to go for years and maybe I should just do it.

I’ve never been out west so I’d probably do 3 nights around Ballard, UT. Just hanging out checking out nearby towns, bars, getting dinner. Yes, I know I can’t get into Skinwalker Ranch and I wouldn’t dare go near because they have big guns. Obviously its a very rural area but I’m always happy just to be away from home in a new environment. I’m happy to sit in the sun on a lawn chair daydreaming all day if it means I’m not working and don’t have chores haha. Then maybe for the rest of the week check out the National Parks or Salt Lake City then fly back home.

Have any of ya’ll traveled to the Uintah Basin specifically? Did you see anything? Are there any good restaurants? Good camping? Am I crazy? Is this the equivalent of someone from LA saying they want to go to Harrisburg, PA for fun because they never seen Pennsylvania lmfao? If it’s gonna suck, just ruin my dreams now lol. Should I just go to Yellowstone or something?
