What are Kirkpatrick’s and Gough’s intentions?

It seems everyday I see multiple posts pointing out Kirkpatrick and Gough are gaslighting everyone through AARO. I can’t help but wonder why they do it and what their motive is. It’s pretty obvious at this point that Kirkpatrick and Gough are / have been on a precise mission to spread misinformation and squash the UAP / NHI topic. There are many discrepancies between what they say and what’s actually happened…

So, I wanted to pose the question, why do you all think they do it? Do you think there’s money involved? Maybe they’re being held hostage, bureaucratically-speaking, by higher ups or defense contractors? Do they just strongly disbelieve in NHI/UFOs? Or do they know some catastrophic truth behind the subject, and are trying to protect the public from descending into hysteria? They’re running on fumes right now and I can’t help but wonder why they are still hanging on so tightly to a narrative that negates the existence of NHI.
