What are the reasons/speculations on why a drone was even recording what is believed to be MH370?

I’m struggling to understand why and how a drone was able to capture the MH370 footage. I have no understanding about how or why the military would deploy and use their drones, but my best guess is that drones are launched to survey things for a reason.

What reason could there be for a drone to be where it was at that time?

Why would it be recording a commercial airliner?

It seems this was either an amazingly perfect coincidence (a drone happens to be in the area of MH370, happens to start recording it at a time when this amazing event happens, or…

It suggests some knowledge of an upcoming event, hence a reason to send a drone to a location and start recording, or..

It wasn’t there, because this is all a very elaborate hoax.

I figure that this question has to have been discussed and answered somewhere else, but since I can’t seem to find such, here’s this post.

Edit: Whoa! I wasn’t gone long and there was already so much discussion – this community is awesome! Thanks for all of the responses. It’s giving me more to think about!
