What happens if disclosure 100% leads to the end of the world or the death of every single human life?

New to this community so sorry if similar questions have been asked on here. What happens if the deep secret behind whatever this phenomena is is so dangerous or disturbing that it drives most people to insanity, civilization shuts down, people start killing each-other and themselves and we enter the apocalypse? Or what happens if knowing the secret ruins the interdimensional beings’ (or whatever the “aliens” are) plans and they have no use for us and just kill us all and start over? What if this is something most people legitimately aren’t ready for or is actually dangerous for everyone to know?

I want to know the truth just as much as you guys, I’m just a little concerned at how deep this rabbit hole goes, and that what’s at the bottom just might not be for everyone.
