Just woke up from a weird dream and thought I’d get my thoughts out here before I forget them.
In my dream, one of my friends showed me a timeline meant to represent how long an NHI can live. It used the lifetime of stars as a unit of measurement, and I told her that can’t be right since stars last billions of years and these things were depicted as living multiple star lifetimes. I told her there’s no way any being can live billions of years. She said something along the lines of, “Yeah, exactly… no one creature can live billions of years…” and just kind of chuckled. I asked her what she meant, and she told me, “We’ll think about it. They even keep hinting that we (humans) are containers.” And then it clicked. We aren’t valuable because of anything we currently contain. We are valuable because we can contain their consciousness. That’s why some NHI allegedly look just like us. That’s why some NHI allegedly look like us “in the future.” Physical bodies are useful, and they try to make them last as long as possible before possessing another one.
When I woke up and started thinking about it, I realized this framework kind of makes sense. It explains why NHI seem to be observing us from a distance and have a vested interest in our society, yet not so much so that we have mass scale interactions with them. It explains why some people “in the know” refer to them as demonic and the whole abduction phenomenon thing. Maybe they’re taking survey to see who might be a viable host? Maybe it even explains how “agreements” might exist between us and them? That part used to really confuse me because I couldn’t understand what human society could possibly own that they would find valuable. I suppose in the theory I’m throwing out there, we would own (or rather, be) the most valuable thing that allows them to take a corporal form.
