When I see religious people talk about ETs. They usually view ETs as one type of alien race. For example, IIRC the Vatican saying the existence of ETs won’t challenge their world view. Saying that the ETs are not fallen, unlike humans who are sinners. Therefore ETs wouldn’t change that much about their Christian world view, or something along those lines. Again they are talking about ETs, like there is only one type of alien race or something. I.E. “Aliens wouldn’t be fallen”. What aliens? Does this apply to all Aliens?
It’s not just religious people who view ETs as a singular hivemind. it’s also people in the UFO community and normies or skeptics too. A lot of people tend to have this America is the world view when it comes to ETs, but on a universal scale this time. To most people, there are only humans and “aliens” in this big universe. Notice how people are quick to separate humans from the rest. Even the more woo spiritualits in the UFO community tend to view humans as these special creatures that can connect to the “aliens” via CE5. Making it seem NHI are these Pokemons or Duel Monsters the special humans can summon, because they are so special.
I know there are theories about multiple ETs or NHI species visiting Earth. So I find it interesting that most people still loop all alien races into one category. Especially when considering the amount galaxies and planets in the universe. Think of all the difference types of species in the universe. Heck even think about the differences between different races/individuals among the same species.
So when I hear religious people describe aliens. They come off as thinking humans are this special race. While thinking ETs are just this other type of species out there. Even though ET is a broad term that would include numerous types of species. And also you have the religious people who view ETs as demons or fallen angels, therefore still putting ETs in a specific category. Since again what alien race in this huge universe are they calling demons/angels?
People say the existence of aliens or NHI would cause ontological shock to religious people. But that just under the world view of religions people still viewing aliens a singular species out there in the universe though. Imagine how worse the ontological shock would be if they found that they live in a big universe where millions of different species exist.
How would they fit aliens in their religions world view now? Would all the different alien species be fallen or save? Would they say millions of different species around the universe, are just demons/angels? Once you realized how big the universe is. This “America is the world” view people have on aliens start to become very silly.
TLDR
I.E. people think Earth is the universe. And aliens are just the other foreign countries.
