A number of the whistleblowers and journalists who have covered this topic have said / hinted at there being notions within this topic that are “extremely disturbing”. My thinking is that this likely falls into either (or both) of these categories.
1.) abduction. I think that if what is being claimed is true and there have been legitimate NHI tech crash sites – I think we found human remains at / inside these crash sites. I think that there’s likely no direct confirmation that these were humans abducted by NHI – and very well may be a case of extraordinarily bad luck where a human was simply killed by the literal impact / crash — but the presence of human remains amidst the wreckage would be extremely disturbing in its potential implications.
2.) something is coming. I think that there might be concern amongst those quarterbacking all of this that we are dealing with the equivalent of a reconnaissance element, even if they’ve been here for over a century or longer – our metrics as far as time might be totally irrelevant. Spending 500 years doing reconnaissance on a planet before the real NHI presence arrives might be, to them, the equivalent of a weekend. I could imagine intel having been gathered that other directly confirms or strongly suggests this possibility OR simply applying a certain level of logic to the situation. If it were us – seems like that’s precisely what we would do. Scout a potentially habitable new planet with a combination of manned craft and unmanned / drone-type tech. Potentially establish some kind of permanent presence there. All in the interests of a larger force coming and taking control of the environment. I know that sounds very sci-fi and Hollywood BUT — one has to assume that’s the most likely purpose of external-planetary exploration. Particularly if the habitability of worlds is something constantly threatened by climatic events, asteroids impact or inter-species conflict.
If the government knew – or strongly suspected – that we are in a situation where an NHI civilization commanding tech vastly beyond our ability to understand or confront was en route with their intentions utterly unknown – I can’t think of a reason they would be more committed to maintain secrecy. This knowledge would put humanity collectively on a set of train tracks with a freight train headed for us and no means of doing anything about it. “Humanity isn’t ready” is one thing, simply worrying about our ability to culturally integrate the notion of an advanced NHI. But an imminent arrival is a very different thing and I DO think there would be mass religious hysteria and panic on an unprecedented scale.
