The US goverment took UFOs seriously, and founded Project Blue Book to study the phenomenon.

When the US Goverment/MiC decided that they prefered secrecy on the topic of UFOs, Project Blue Book was discontinued, with the following reasons given:
“the conclusions of Project BLUE BOOK are:(1) no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security;(2) there has been no evidence submitted to or discovered by the Air Force that sightings categorized as “unidentified” represent technological developments or principles beyond the range of present-day scientific knowledge; and(3) there has been no evidence indicating that sightings categorized as “unidentified” are extraterrestrial vehicles.”
After that, the Pentagon/US Goverment denied everything related to UFOs for decades, and actively ridiculed it to create a stigma around the topic so no one would come forward.
All the while people kept sighting UFOs. Civilians, commercial pilots, miltary pilots, miltary personnel on nuclear bases.

In 2017, Lou Elizondo and Chris Mellon, working for the Pentagon/US Goverment, convinced certain individuals in the Pentagon to disclose the 3 Flir videos, using the excuse of aerospace safety concerns. Elizondo was working on AAWSAP, which was a secret program that supposedly didn’t exist, nicknamed AATIP.Given that the videos were disclossed officially with the permission of the Pentagon/part of the Pentagon, eventually the Pentagon admited that the videos were real Navy recordings of UFOs, and that AAWSAP/AATIP existed indeed.

The Pentagon admitted to have known about UFOs for a long time and having secret programs to study them, all the while continuing to deny and ridicule the topic. There is obviously an internal conflict in the Pentagon/MiC regarding disclosure, and after decades, the official disclosure process started.This was not the first time there was an internal conflict about disclosure in the Pentagon and other US Goverment branches. The US goverment, specifically the Pentagon/MiC have been lying for decades about UFOs not being real and not having any information about them. What else are they hiding about this topic?
Then Grush came forward as a whistleblower. He worked for an agency that studied UFOs, after Elizondo left AAWSAP/AATIP. In the same way, they stonewalled him a lot in his investigations, which is another sign of that internal conflict regarding secrecy in this issue.Eventually someone started threatening him, which prompted him to come forward, to make sure that if whoever was threatening him actually did something, they would validate his claims. Some people argue that the credible and urgent part was in reference to Grush complaint about threats, and not his allegations. But even in that case, the people threatening him are doing so because of his allegations. Why are they threatening him if his allegations were false and didn’t have weight? Exactly.

He admits the existence of UFOs, and it being a serious enough issue that it have disturbed US military exercises several times, and the Pentagon has started an office, AARO, dedicated to investigate the UFOs.I doubt balloons and aerial junk would disturb US military exercises that much, let alone the Pentagon founding an office to investigate balloons and aerial junk. So it seems tha these UFOs are more anomalous than that, like has been implied, at the very least.
