I Don’t Like the Narrative That This Is About National Security

There are many reasons the UFO topic has been ignored by policy makers and the public at large: decades of stigma, disbelief, authority figures denying everything, debunkers and their beloved balloons, accusations of believers forming a new religion based around little green men, a lack of undeniable physical evidence, the list could go on and on. Getting the topic taken seriously by even a small coalition of curious congressmen took a high ranking air force intel officer testifying under oath with the backing of the Intelligence Community Inspector General. Even that barely moved the needle. In order to keep the ball rolling, pro-disclosure lobbyists have shifted the narrative to a language congress understands: military spending and national security.

Perhaps I am overly optimistic in hoping for a reality closer to that shown in Star Trek than that of Dune or Enders Game, but I think we need to take a step back and ask: is it not enough to simply be curious? Perhaps instead of tacking UAP legislation onto a military funding bill, we should pass a disclosure bill on its own for the sake of doing what is right. Perhaps instead of criticizing the military for being unorganized and uncooperative with regards to studying and tracking UAPs, we should be criticizing it for gatekeeping paradigm shifting information and gaslighting the public for 80+ years. Call me crazy (and many do), but I would rather see my representatives stand up for my right to properly understand reality than Lockheed-Martin’s right to use recovered alien technology to turn brown people living in third world countries halfway across the planet into pink mist.

If aliens are real and they want to wipe out humanity, there is little we can do to stop them. In the history of this planet, we have no evidence they have ever been the aggressors. If that changes, we can discuss funding a defense effort. In the mean time, let’s not incentivize them to do so by becoming militaristic little pests. A future featuring peace won’t be paved with better weapons systems, but through fostering a deeper understanding of reality and our place within.
