How could disclosure hurt humanity?

Most arguments I’ve heard usually appeal to our emotional reactions to the ontological shock of disclosure, or generally some kind of lack of readiness.

As I see the remarkable innovations humans are able to produce, I wonder if lack of access to the technology of others helps with adding uniqueness and diversity to the universe. I mean, we’re probably not the first to think of using radio signals for communication, but maybe the innovative music we send over it is truly “ours’ and adds to the richness of the universe? Not just our arts, but technology, too. There’s a chance humans or human AI could produce or discover something very remarkable and unique that other intelligences haven’t. Do you think this could be a driver for cover ups?
