Summary Colm Kelleher gives a talk at Rice University about the relationship between UFOs, Parapsychological experiences like cryptid sightings and poltergeist experiences. He offers a history of his role in AAWSAP, and thoughts about what all of it means for UFO researchers.
So I am a college professor and teach a class called “Religion and the Paranormal.” best part is that when I started teaching the class, UFOs weren’t officially acknowledged by the US. Tracking disclosure across the years has been fun.
Getting to Kelleher, I have the students read Hunt for the Skinwalker. It blows most of their minds, both, each distinct phenomenon discussed (UFOs, cattle mutilation, orbs, mythical wolves, etc.), but more so because they all happen together at the ranch.
They book does a horrible job explaining how they go together, all these different phenomena. The only thing connecting them in the book is that they happen on the ranch.
In the talk I’m sharing here, Kelleher does a fantastic job explaining how they fit. Not why, but how. He does a better job explaining here than he does in Skinwalkers at the Pentagon, even.
In his talk, he inadvertently addresses one of the most embarrassing aspects of being a “believer” in the UFO phenomenon – it has us forced to entertain all sorts of other crazy wild outlandish things like Bigfoot and God knows what else. He helps explain, for believers and skeptics, a bit of the association. To hear him talk about it, the connection is not a single geography and it’s not because believers are gullible. The truth seems way weirder than that.
My students were captivated, so I wanted to share it here. Hope you all enjoy.
