So I just looked up Diana Pasulka’s citation index and impact factor…


ResearchGate shows 27 citations spread over the entirety of her publication history, which consists of 17 publications. Impact Factor Calculator shows that impact factor is calculated by using number of citations in the current year, number of publications in the previous year, and number of publications two years prior as variables.

I was able to find a whopping 3 citations of her work last year (clarification edit: as in total number of citations of all her publications, not just the ones she published last year) . Since 2024 had just started, we can give her the benefit of the doubt and count those in as citations “this year”, which produces an impact factor of 1.5. That’s… Really not a great impact factor. Generally, 3 is considered to be good, and 10 is considered to be remarkable.

Maybe people should actually look into details before making appeals to authority.
