The title summarises everything. I’m being honest here, cause the whole UFO “lore” is something that I find exciting, but I’m finding it harder and harder to believe it has ground on reality. I will explain my journey below.
So, for years, I wasn’t a believer in UFOs as some non-human phenomena (as this sub is mostly focused on). I even had an user in Metabunk…
Then, Grusch came out (it was before the Congress hearing). A podcast focused on Magick that I listen to mentioned it, but I dismissed it as some psyops or something like that at first. However, searching for commentaries on Grusch allegations (in order to debunk them in my mind), I got in contact with some literature on the phenomena that I’ve never seen.
Fastwalkers, Wilson Davis memo, the relation between UFOs and atomic bombs, Garry Nolan, Vallée, Hynek, the interdimensional hypothesis, remote viewing, The Invisible College… The list goes on and on.
Everything seemed to make sense, then Grusch testified in front of Congress, the Schumer Bill, wow. I think I started believing.
But then I started questioning myself and some questions are still open:
if those things are in our sky and they’re visible, why don’t we have a large community of astronomers among ufologists? Like, there’s more non-astromers seeing those things with the naked eye that there are astronomers with million dollar equipment… Doesn’t add up.
why there’s no hard proof so far? Like, I know the government blah blah blah, but if those things crash and some “ufologists” claim to have pieces of crafts, why don’t they make it available for other scientists to study and the public to see? Why the secrecy?
why there’s so many contractions and differences between experiencers? Like, the crafts, the beings, the interaction, etc. It’s always so different.
why hasn’t something like the Washington Lights (1952) happened after the invention of affordable color cameras?
why are most sightings at night?
(the classic) why so many blurry videos?
do you really want me to believe the same government agents that failed to hide a bunch of websites used by its spies because of a bunch of rookie mistakes are able to appear out of nothing at a crash site minutes after the crash? And even in other countries?
there are 200 countries on Earth and they fight each other for the most trivial reasons everyday. How can they all be, at the same time, part of the same conspiracy?
And then, we started seeing Grusch making some big allegations with resemblance to the “UFO lore”, Leslie Kean and Sheehan went full woo-woo, Lue was caught using his backyard stage an UFO video, and all of what I thought was “serious” ufology started to crack. I think Garry Nolan is the only one still living up to the promise and that’s it.
I want to believe. But it’s getting harder and harder.
