I am reposting this because a mod removed it for being “low effort.” I have posted about the removal in the meta sub but am reposting because it’s certainly not low effort, especially compared to a lot of posts that the mods are perfectly fine with. I am aware that I’ll probably get temp banned, that’s fine. The following text is just copied and pasted.
Something that has been rolling around in my head for a while now.
Two things we know about UAPs are that 1. They appear to be physical objects, or at least a certain number of them do. 2. They can exhibit extreme acceleration estimated to be in the thousands of Gs in some cases.
Given just those two bare minimum observations, barring some weird unforseen physical limitations, such as zero inertia meaning zero kinetic energy, any UAP can be a Relativistic Kill Vehicle capable of imparting enough kinetic energy to literally destroy a planet.
Even at just 1G of constant acceleration, an object will reach 99% of lightspeed in about 1 year after traveling about half a lightyear. A baseball sized mass with a velocity of .99c would devastate continents. In scifi, weapons based on this concept are known as Relativistic Kill Vehicles and they are well within the realms of physical possibility. Make the RKV a bit bigger and you reach the energy required to shatter the planet into a new asteroid belt.
Obviously, even with our best modern rockets or ion drives, accelerating an object from half a lightyear away at 1G for a year to create an RKV to destroy earth is not practically possible. But what if we could easily accelerate an object to those speeds?
Let’s say that the Legacy Programs have cracked and recreated the propulsion method behind UAPs. Let’s say it’s relatively easy to create… something along the lines of a nuke in terms of sophistication. Even at those levels of complexity, 9 nations on earth have developed nukes. If it’s even simpler than that, like say a jet engine level of complexity, you’ve got the potential for even non-state actors to create their own UAP propulsion drive and therefore, their own RKV.
Imagine North Korea in possession of an RKV. Imagine a simple terrorist organization in possession of one. That is an extinction level event. Given enough time, that is a nearly guaranteed extinction level event. It could take years, or decades, or centuries, but eventually someone or some group will literally destroy the entire earth given the ability to.
If this is the reality, and again given the most basic two observations it has to be the reality, I do not blame “them” for keeping it secret.
TLDR: Given that UAPs have mass and can accelerate, they are Relativistic Kill Vehicles by default. Given some members of humanity’s nature, this is a tech that practically guarantees earth’s destruction given enough time.
