At 2:34:41 in Danny Jones interview with Sheehan, Sheehan shares a story that places him around college age at Ft. Devens in Massachusetts for HALO training as a member of 5th SFG. HALO was added to the Qualification Course curriculum for the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School in the 60s but I have not been able to verify that 5th SFG was completing HALO training at Ft. Devens during this time. Ft. Devens serves as home for 10th SFG in 1968 but it seems Sheehan’s timeline indicates that HALO training was occurring at Devens prior.
Black Rifle Coffee Company, a veteran owned company with direct ties to the special operations community, indicates the following about the history of HALO:
HALO jumps were first conceptualized by the Army between 1957 and 1958 as a way to insert Special Forces teams behind enemy lines without detection. It took a decade before the 10th Special Forces Group created the “Trojan Parachute Club” in Bad Toelz, Germany, which developed the techniques of equipment jumps, high altitude with oxygen, and night jumps.Members of the first HALO (high altitude, low opening) training class at Bad Toelz, Germany. The first HALO training occurred there with 10th Special Forces Group ODA-8. The first training jumps took place in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1968. Photo courtesy of the US Army.
Sheehan does not present the details of his military career clearly in the interview nor in his website’s about me.
I have experience with the special operations community and something about these details struck me as incomplete. I am hoping other users might have information about Sheehan’s time in service as it might help substantiate his position within the UAP topic.
