Hi! I want to share a recent experience I had that’s been eating away at me. My mind doesn’t believe what my eyes have seen. I’ve had other experiences before, which I had discounted in the past, but I now seriously question. I will share those as comments.
It was between 11:30 and 11:45pm Central time on 3/3/2024.
I live in the midwest, in a decent-sized city, on the outskirts, on the northwest end of town…. which is near an airport. Hope that’s enough info… I want to retain some anonymity with this account.
We’re experiencing warmer-than-usual weather right now, so I’ve been taking my dog for long strolls around the entire neighborhood at night. Even though it’s a safe neighborhood, I usually leave the house unlocked and carry a switch blade and my iPhone. Usually we walk the entire mile around the suburb, in a big circle, and walk home. There’s a large north-facing cornfield at the halfway point, and there’s a lot of geese there right now… anyway… On shorter walks, we usually just walk around the one block. Which is more like 2 blocks.
On the eve of 3/3, it was rather cold, so we ended up briskly walking around the block. Door unlocked, no knife, iPhone is dead and charging. Anyway, we’re on the walk (briskly), and at the 3/4 mark, before the intersection to my street, we encountered an unleashed Australian Shepherd. No owner anywhere, no lights on, nobody awake nearby. This dog made no noise. Didn’t even hear paws scratching pavement. Usually I notice rabbits and other dogs before my senior pupper does… this one I didn’t. My heeler rarely barks; he startled me by growled at it, so we went across the street. It just watched us silently. Then, about 20 seconds later, on that side of the street, above the dog, in the periphery, I noticed a bright, halogen street lamp glow, at about street lamp height, maybe above the tree canopy. It caught my attention. It was getting brighter.
I looked above to see what’s catching my attention, and I see a UFO suddenly blast off into the horizon. It was going from south to north, and looked like it went over my house. It was slower, bigger, and brighter than a shooting star. It looked a lot closer than one, too. Maybe 500-2000 ft in the air. I could make out some faint details. It didn’t appear solid. It looked like yellow light, like the 3d wireframe of a space ship – maybe a force field. I could see yellow light energy coming out of some turbines – I could see some turbine looking things on the back and on the underside. Looked like it was about the size of a sedan or school bus. In less than 2 seconds it was gone. I looked around. No Australian Shepherd in sight. WTF did I just see? was that real? There was not a single sound – it was dead silent. And if nobody was looking right then and there they would have easily missed it.
We got home and I texted my brother about it right away because I thought I was hallucinating or something. I’ve been thinking about this non-stop for the last few days and decided to finally post about it.
