Pelacaras / Facepeelers theory on the face rip thing

This just popped into my mind randomly: what if the Pelacaras are a race based on advanced mimicry? And they can imitate skin, speech – but can’t quite nail the faces.

So they peel the faces off and use them as type of a in-game “skin” for their deception. Or just use the biomaterial go generated something that looks more faithful.

That would explain how people heard them talk in spanish, and how they looked like normal people.
