Hi, everyone. I’ve lurked this sub for a while, and never posted anything on reddit ever. I’ve been very apprehensive about typing my experience out because of the obvious reasons, but I also feel compelled to say something because it has affected me (seemingly) permanently. All that being said I hope I’m doing this right. Please try to put yourselves in my shoes.
I know this was a while ago but it is with me everyday.
On the night of Sept. 18/early 19, 2009. 12:50 am. I was leaving Sedalia, MO headed southward on highway 65 to a destination about 15 miles from the city limits. As I approached my turn I slowed down and checked my mirrors for any other cars.
(I know it was late, but I remember it being odd to me that I hadn’t seen another car for the entire ride. Which was actually kind of pleasant, it being a Friday night.)
Both my left and right mirrors were clear of traffic, but when I looked back up to the mirror in my windshield all I could see was a very large, vibrant orange disk. It was sitting at a 5 o’clock position under my mirror.
My eyes locked on this thing and I could not look away. I made a slow turn onto the country road (to the west) without breaking eye contact. Now the object was in my driverside window. I hit the breaks, put my car in park, rolled down the window, and practically pulled myself up into the window frame.
This object was absolutely beautiful, and it radiated orange light in a way I’ve only seen similarly in neon signs. It was bright but contained. With an obvious outline. The size at that distance was about the same thickness and size as my index finger with my arm outstretched (1cm×6cm). I could see the orange light on the soybeans and trees. This object was hovering just to the left of a 400ft cell phone tower about 2/3 the way up. This tower is less than a half mile south from the road I was now on. Being absolutely captivated I stared intently at it trying over and over to understand what I was looking at. Then I realized I couldn’t hear anything. Absolute silence.
Then the object started to move. It slowly moved eastward, away from the tower and towards the highway I just pulled off of. Then it stopped over the field and another disk appeared below it.
Same shape, same size, same color. I wasn’t blinking and that’s how I saw the very peculiar way it arrived. It looked like it came out from behind the sky. Like if you were to have 2 black pieces of paper, and you drew an orange disk on one then covered it with the other, then you slid the top piece slowly to the right revealing the disk. It’s hard to explain but I can add illustrations. It didn’t make sense.
Anyways, both of these disks stayed together in a formation and continued slowly toward the highway. They stopped again, maybe for 3 or 4 seconds. I was staring so hard my eyes felt weird, like deep wells. And then to my shock, 5 more smaller disks arrived in just the same way as the second one, but all at once. They were in this strange spray pattern. These things were close.
I started to get scared. I realized I hadn’t seen anyone on the highway and I was the only car with my lights on anywhere around. I had this feeling of looking at something that was looking back. This is the hardest part for me to say, but then I did hear something. It was a voice, not mine, not my inner voice. It was like radio. I didn’t just think these words up. It felt like I heard a broadcast. “This is for you.”
At this point the objects all stopped and in the blink of an eye, they snapped back westward and disappeared ahead of me above the road. Leaving me all alone. I freaked out but in a unique way I’d never felt before. I was happy/sad/scared. I actually laughed.
It was and will always be the most incredible experience of my life and I’m worried nothing else will come close…
I wish I could get whitemanAFB radar data for that exact time because someone had to have seen them.
I hope someone else has seen these. These were not flares. These were not stars. These things were very close and very obvious.
