Making an actual post about my experience for posterity — I commented about my sighting a while ago but the post it was on got removed. (Hat tip to u/SabineRitter for encouraging me to do this.)

LOCATION: Toronto, ON, Canada — southwestern part of the city, ~1 km from Lake Ontario
DATE: Wed, February 28th, 2024 in the evening
TIME: Approx 7:30 pm ET — and for sure sometime between 7:26 – 7:43 pm ET based on text timestamps with my partner. (At 7:26 pm I told him I was bringing our plants inside from the roof deck. At 7:43 pm I texted him about what I’d seen.)
DESCRIPTION OF SIGHTING:
The weather was insanely windy all that day and into the evening. I was afraid the wind would blow over the plants on our roof deck, so I went to move them inside. I didn’t bring my cell phone with me.
The sky was clear and visibility was good despite the wind and city light pollution. I spotted a couple satellites and paused to stargaze. While looking toward the western sky, I saw what appeared to be two bright orange-yellow satellites. It looked like they were about to cross paths, almost at a perpendicular angle. As an experienced stargazer, the brightness (almost ISS level) and trajectory of these lights was notable to me. They stood out.
Except the lights did not cross paths — a third light/orb suddenly appeared nearby. Like a bright star popping into existence. The three lights then assembled into a small equilateral triangle formation. It was not a large triangle. Staying in this formation, the orange lights zoomed across the sky moving on a North-South trajectory until I lost sight of them over Lake Ontario. They were way too fast and high to be drones or birds, but not fast enough to be shooting stars or meteors. And I’ve never seen satellites behave or move like that.
I didn’t have my phone with me to record this unfortunately. But even if I had I’m not sure it would’ve mattered. It all happened so fast like less than 10 seconds and I was so stunned. I stood there for a while, jaw dropped. I knew I’d seen something really fucking anomalous. I have trouble getting it out of my head still.
I found video footage of a sighting VERY SIMILAR to mine, almost identical in fact. Interesting that it was spotted in Burlington, ON in Sept 2022 which is not too far from us, ~50 km.
Sharing my experience in case it is helpful. Recently there have been a number of pilot reports of unusual triangle lights across Canada — been in the news and even Canadian Air Defence was alerted. There were a number of flights coming in and out of YYZ airport at the time of my 2/28 sighting. Maybe a pilot, flight crew, or ATC saw something too.
I don’t know what I saw — a UAP, some kind of flight tech, but I’ve never ever seen anything like it in my whole life.
