The crypto-terrestrial hypothesis is interesting. If I recall correctly, some well known UFO/UAP researchers like Vallee have speculated that “The Others” may not come from other planets at all.
It would certainly make their relationship with mankind take on a different dimension (pun intended). An advanced civilization, that can present itself to the other inhabitants of its home planet, at any time, in any form that it wants.
I would speculate that we are dealing with both an inter-dimensional AND crypto-terrestrial phenomenon. They may call this planet home, in a dimension above this 3d physical realm.
Perhaps they can appear in this 3d realm using their non-corporeal bodies, which we see as lights in the sky. They also have technology, that can print crafts and biological avatars in our 3d realm, which they inhabit to influence this dimension of reality.
I would wager that we are not alone here, but not exactly in the ways that many of us imagine.
