Submission statement:
** I wanted to take down a couple of thoughts, and was hoping someone would feel inspired to contribute. Or simply share their opinion in a civilized and constructive manner. My position is that I believe in the phenomenon, but I’m also somewhat split and usually take the skeptical perspective when seeing images, videos, news etc.
The idea here was to curb some reservations and look at the phenomenon as it apparently presents itself, and accept it as that, in the hope of seeing something in it that is often clouded by (my own) doubts and skepticism. To do so I mainly point to and reiterate what people smarter and more knowledgeable than me has already said and shown, because I think it’s useful and interesting. **
So here’s my attempt at a summary of the properties of the UFO phenomenon as reported and witnessed (I’ve excluded the abduction phenomena, which seems to operate with its own unique set of properties, effects and consequences):
It is physical. Radar tracking, imprints and marks, apparently «dropped» materials found, measurable radiation.
It is mental: telepathy, remote interaction, response to witnesse’s thoughts.
It is ancient: reported throughout recorded history.
It adapts and displays a dynamic morphology, either as mental suggestion or actually physical: Through the times it has been seen in the shape of gods and angels, as «burning shields» with the Roman legionnaires, then as houses, full-rigged sail ships, to airships and finally the sleek, seamless hi-tech UFO’s of our time.
It is global.
It can directly and remotely influence other systems, like in the Tehran case in 1976 where the object seemed to instantly take the power out of an F-4 fighter jet as the pilot was about to fire a missile, rendering the aircraft harmless and useless. Or when it manipulates closed, unique firing and guidance systems for intercontinental ballistic missiles (Malmstrom etc).
It doesn’t seem to adhere to what we know as physical laws, yet it (apparently) presents as something material within those laws. Sound is an example; objects moving at super- and hyper sonic speeds without creating a sonic boom, but also others emitting various sounds like whirring, buzzing, humming or thundering.
So, if we accept this, we got: An objectively real phenomenon with weight and mass, has direct access or connection to the witnesse’s mind, and it seems to intentionally present in shapes that are relatable to humans calibrated to the current historical time. It seems to mimic or respond to our ideas of a superior technology.
The phenomenon appears to be mainly benevolent to us (abductions excluded). In the rare cases where people have been physically injured, the reason appears to be unintentional, natural causes like radiation from objects, apparently not directed at anyone intentionally.
It appears to be interested in our fate (humanity, the earth or both) as it shows particular interest towards potential mass destruction / nuclear risk. There are those who also believe they actively try to influence our development through «seeding» hints, information and insight that can be useful to us, as theorized in American Cosmic (Diana Pasulka 2019).
