The much spoken of “alien police patch” for Roswell, New Mexico is the true official police patch. Coulthart has interviewed the Roswell Police Chief Lance Bateman, who said the emblem–graced by a flying sauce beaming down to the ground, and alien heads on the side–has replaced the design that was used by the police force for 30 years. Bateman has heard about Roswell since a kid, and says the town is probably going to keep on promoting the legend for years to come. Not every officer is happy, he admitted, but for the force as a whole: “They were the ones that designed it, they wanted it like that,” and that is good enough for him.
