How would you handle this “truth” if it really was the truth?

There has been a lot of discussion on the possible motives for the lack of disclosure, but let’s say that the US government or other 1st nation states have withheld information gleaned from extraterrestrial craft and visitations that could advance human progress in a fundamental way. If this information included methods for harnessing unlimited free energy that would obviously solve a lot of world problems but it could also introduce worse problems to the world. One example could be that free energy is so easily obtainable that once disclosed everyone could tap into it. How would terrorist organizations use this technology? There is real risk that it may actually make the world worse or even usher in the destruction of humanity. If this was a possible scenario would you still want disclosure or would you wait until you had devised ways to prevent catastrophic use cases of the information?

I’m for disclosure but I could also live without jt if the risk of making the world significantly worse outweighed the benefits.
