Superheat the hull in order to contain the vessel within a heat pocket of air, within water. Like an airplane flying underwater because it’s actually flying inside hot air, not water. No more resistance via friction from water molecule density. Doubles as a heat diffuser (heat sink) for the engine. Possibly why the hulls may glow as well, in some stories they are radioactive and glowing emitting heat, damaging surrounding areas/ people.

“float” through the air using an antigravity electromagnetic device to stablize the vehicles Z-height in resonance to the bodily masses electromagnetic signature beneath it (the ground or whatever it flys over), becoming “weightless”, yet retaining its own integrity as a mass (vehicle still has weight, yet appears not to). Z-height is dependent upon a higher (up) or lower (down) electrical power output converted into “floating” via magnetism. If you reverse the polarity within a cylindrical shape within the inner diameter of the antigravity beam below, you’ll have a Tractor beam to pick up objects, while remaining afloat in the air. Outer diameter floats you up via pushing, inner diameter pulls object up.

To control the vehicles X and Y axis of mobility, one may utilize “warp” fields. Warp fields would allow the vehicle the capability to “slip” from point A to point B since the vehicle would become vacuum-intubated within a localized wormhole and “snap” or “pull” itself to it’s targeted location. Hence the familiar rigid zig-zag style of travel.

AI or Brain-interfaced controls in addition to a gyroscopic interior hull would allow a linear fixated directional warp field generator to now travel omni-directional with the same principles above (refer to warp field explanation). Yet the interface would allow the occupants the ability of increased precision of navigation via improved processing capabilities due to instantaneous bandwidth.

A Nuclear fusion reactor core or greater as an energy source is ample to meet the needs necessary for power output among the vehicle’s various systemic demands. Fusion is multitudes stronger than nuclear fission.

This could explain its multi-capable modality of travel via water, air, and space because those modes of travel would then be condensed into the physics of 1 mode, air travel. A super heated hull as a water plow and heat sink for the engine, anti-gravity device as the suspension and tractor beam, warping as the wheels, gyroscopic-interfaced controls as the steering wheel, and a nuclear fusion reactor core as the engine.
