It has since 1972 been secretly monitoring and often assessing worldwide allegations of UFO activity. NSA Listening posts around the world have operated under a standing order. It is mandatory to Flash-report NSAs Fort Meade Research and Engineering Division on all intercepted foreign-government signals intelligence that pertains to UFOs including any electronic intelligence or signals that might have extraterrestrial origin.
