On 5/22/24 I was on Jet Blue Flight 2116 (B62116) from San Francisco (SFO) to JFK airport. The flight left at approximately 8:00 am (Pacific). I was seated on the right side (south view) of the plane.
At about 8:35 am (Pacific), traveling over Nevada open country, I noticed an extremely brightly lit object on the ground. The ratio dimensions were ¼ height to ¾ width in a semi-circular shape. The plane was traveling just over 35k feet traveling at ~580 mph (according to “flight tracker” seen from my seat). Best guess is the object was 10 miles to the south.
With the sun was rising to the east and with the plane traveling from the west, I assumed this was a reflection from a building or natural formation. However, the light intensity, shape and color did not change after the object was behind the plane. Total observed time west to east was ~10 minutes.
The photo attached does not convey the brightness of the object. Even from a distance and from every angle, it was like looking into an arc welding light.
I’ve attached a flight track from Planefinder.com as to where the plane was located at 8:39 am (Pacific) with the closest Google Maps point being Pactolus, NV. It’s mostly empty desert. Searching on Google Maps in the general proximity for objects that might reflect light, I include what appears as a white surface bed that could reflect light but would be hard to explain what was observed. Not saying this was a UAP/UFO but it was anomalous. The crew on this sub is pretty good sleuthing out the unexplained and look forward to crowd sourcing an answer!
