Why are we now giving the idea that NHI craft are not intelligent beings from other civilizations more legitimacy?

It’s pretty obvious at this point that there are different types of phenomena going on at the same time. As of late, the idea that “they” are spiritual beings from higher dimensions has been gaining ground. Sure, that might be the case for some sightings. But why is the idea of some of the cases actually being extraterrestrial visitations now being pushed to the wayside? By extraterrestrial visitations I mean from actual intelligent, carbon based civilizations from other star systems.
