In this current climate of what seems to be ‘doom and gloom’, what with the coming test of humanity and whether we are going to handle or even survive this vastly, supposedly anyway, Intelligence (s), I think we may have overlooked a very important point in our discussions. One, in which we as a race seem to have forgotten or misplaced. What is it you ask? It is this: I am constantly amazed at how much goodness, talent, hope and just outright wonderful humanness is all around us every day. Now don’t get me wrong, clearly, we have a huge set of problems that need to be addressed but if we focus on the bad to the exclusion of all else then we have already lost. So today I want to talk about an aspect of my research into UFOs etc, that had not gotten my attention. Well, until about an hour ago. In all my research, there is very little, if any at all, mention of what we humans call ‘the finer things of life’ And what I mean by this is Music, Poetry, Art, Dance, Singing, Food, Parties, Socialising… This, if absent in our lives would be utterly depressing, to say the least. Maybe the ‘Others’ have it only in their home ground but even our Apollo astronauts took photos of their loved ones onboard their craft. They recited poetry when looking back at what Carl Sagan referred to as “The pale blue dot”. Humans play music that no matter how many times we have heard it, we cannot fail to cry. This, on the surface anyway, appears to be sadly lacking in what we have seen of the ‘Others’ so far. So I ask again, where is the Mona Lisa or Bach or Shakespeare? I’ll tell you, it’s right here on earth! So maybe, we have underestimated what we have to offer, to our soon to be guests. And when doubt fills our minds telling us, we won’t be able to rise to the occasion, think again! In the words of the bard “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves”
