Crashed Triangle – a first hand account

In light of a recent post regarding potentially prosaic triangles and Condormans recent ‘fiction’, this is a good time for me to share this story. My stepfather was the head of the military police at Grifiss AFB in the 80’s. This base is referenced in Conforman’s write up. It’s mentioned that part of the program moved to Grifiss in the 80’s due to its remote location.

My stepfather was the head of military police at Grifiss AFB during the late 70’s and early 80’s and this is his first hand account.

They would often see ‘ufos’ from the base – silent or “buzzing” lights zipping around the sky above the base making sharp turns at ridiculous speeds – always in winter and always middle of the night. Once around 3am on a clear winter night, the base shook with an extremely loud boom that sounded much different than the sonic booms they would hear during regular test flights. Shortly thereafter he and other leaders on the base were called to an emergency meeting. In this meeting they were briefed that an ‘incedent’ had occurred off base and they were told to report to a remote location in the forest. They were briefed that they were to secure all roads leading to this location and to arrest any civilian or even local rescue personnel who tries to penetrate their perimeter. The one and only time in his career where he was told to use deadly force if needed. At the location they could see a large object smoldering in the woods roughly 100 yards from a rural public road. Soon several tractor trailers arrived with bulldozers along with unmarked helicopters with men dressed in business attire. They were instructed to look away from the extraction operation that was underway. The bulldozers smashed a path through the forest to the object, a crane was brought in and within 2 hours they witnessed what looked like a broken triangle (exactly like the image condorman described flying there) broken in half and carried out on a flat bed tractor trailer covered in large tarps. Everyone went back to base and you know the rest of the story already: They were hastily given NDAs by the suits who didn’t identify themselves, were threatened by some unknown colonel and told to report that there had been a non fatal test helicopter crash to anyone who inquired. The end.
