Dark Mental Consequences

I don’t want to distract anyone with this bit of personal griping, but there’s something I’d like to mention on this subreddit.

Under any normal circumstance, prior to these events, the occurrence of a reasonable human-being plunging down the abyss of alien conspiracy theory is nothing less than the complete upheaval of a person’s worldview. It is an extremely dark turn of events, confronting the used-to-be well-adjusted individual with all sorts of existential/religious/psychological quandaries. During that process, that person is typically considered to be in a state of mental unravelling. You might say, he or she is not “mentally well”.

That being said, whatever comes of all these recent goings-on, what is for SURE is that the past 70-80 years of secrecy/military industrial complex have propagated a MASSIVE wave of previously mentally healthy people descending into alien conspiracy theory. That is to say, a massive wave across the nation (across the world, frankly) of people experiencing mental turmoil… becoming mentally “unwell”… without saying anything to whether or not the alien claims end up being true. It is still a state of mental distress.

I’ve really struggled with all this. Yes, I’ve landed on my feet, but many people won’t. I don’t care if many folks out there aren’t going to be moved by whatever comes of all this. Good for you guys. But I have to say — the consequences of all this on the psyche of the world are going to be very dark.

I can’t believe this is happening.
