So I’ve been following this sub for a while and generally into UFOs for a couple years. What initially caught my interest was David Fravor’s story and then Grusch turned the notch up. Whilst I think some UFO cases are cool or interesting (Zimbabwe, Varginha etc), it’s the real world verifiable stuff from credible people that I actually want to hear. Veterans testifying in the US Congress about UFOs and active politicians pushing openly for disclosure legislation. That’s mental stuff, but I’ve noticed a trend that whenever we get some progress or news on that, this sub and the wider internet discourse seems to get flooded with some new woo bullshit craze.
The best example was the MH370 phase the community went through. Almost immediately after Gruschs testimony, this video pops up. People on the internet were spending hours to disprove it. Seemingly intelligent and professional people were making long posts about details of the video. Suddenly a bunch of special effects experts popped up and now no ones talking about Grusch.
When to me, and most rational people, it was clear from the start this video was fake (albeit professionally) and it was infuriating to come to the sub and that’s all people could talk about. If someone was newly interested after the hearings and went online, all they’d see is absurd posts about orbs bleeping a plane out of existence.
Not long after that we had the Peruvian dolls right about the time the UAPDA was going through the House.
The point I’m trying to make is, whenever some actual progress is being made on disclosure, distractions are being put out there. It feels deliberate to me, to obfuscate the actual news and muddy the waters with silly nonsense and elaborate hoaxes. Normal people taking an interest will be put off immediately.
I mention this now, because after a big week or two with the SCIF briefing, jellyfish UFO video and some more mainstream reporting on the topic, there is now this Varginha video thing and everyone’s gone into overdrive. It’s an obvious pattern.
To me, this is another obvious hoax, but just enough effort that some crazies will get excited. Using widely reported details of the case and the appearance of the alien, someone’s made a model and a shit video and released it now, when serious developments are happening.
We need to be more serious. There’s actual stuff going on that’s interesting enough on its own. People don’t need to fall for this stuff. If we talk of a disinformation campaign, this is exactly how you’d orchestrate it.
