Reading a lot of comments attacking Burchett’s amendment as though he’s trying to derail the Schumer amendment.
Burchett’s amendment was proposed before the Schumer amendment was drafted. Yes it’s short and doesn’t do anywhere near as much but it was at least an attempt to get some disclosure. Schumer’s amendment was proposed later and is obviously a million times better and should be supported by everyone looking for disclosure. So put down your pitchforks and personal attacks on Burchett, as far as the disclosure issue is concerned he is on our side. Any anger should be directed now at Matt Gaetz who is publically announcing why he won’t support the Schumer amendment with misleading statements about disclosure not being able to occur for 25 years and saying we don’t need it anyway because we have the Burchett amendment.
